Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14 November 1889 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. His family was prosperous and educated. His father Motilal Nehru was one of the famous lawyers of the country and was also a prominent supporter of the Indian independence movement. At the same time, his mother Swaroop Rani Nehru was a loving and cultured woman, who maintained an atmosphere of love and discipline in the family.

Nehru’s childhood was very curious and studious. He was fond of nature, science and books since childhood. He would sit for hours and read new things and try to understand them. The atmosphere of his house was full of education, where the coming and going of scholars and freedom fighters was a common thing.

Early education started from home

Chacha Nehru’s primary education took place at home. His father got him educated from good teachers. He was given education in English, Hindi and Sanskrit. Along with this, they were also given information about Indian history and culture. But Motilal Nehru wanted his son to get an international perspective, so he sent Nehru to England for further studies.

Journey from England to Barrister

While abroad, Chacha Nehru first took admission in Harrow School, which is one of the top schools in Britain. He then continued his studies at Eton College, where he deeply learned the values ​​of discipline, leadership and modern education. Later, Nehru ji obtained a bachelor’s degree from Cambridge University. After this he did M.A. from Oxford University. And then completed his law studies from Inner Temple, London and became a barrister.

Pledge to serve the country after return

When Nehru returned to India after completing his studies, his mind was full of longing for the independence of the country. He started practicing law, but his heart remained more towards the freedom of the country than the courtroom. Gradually he came in contact with Mahatma Gandhi and, influenced by his thoughts, became active in the freedom movement.
