The rapidly increasing demand for electric cars in India has now become the new face of the automobile industry. The month of October 2025 was a big proof of this trend, because during this period more than 18,000 electric cars hit the roads. This clearly shows that Indian customers are now choosing electric cars instead of petrol and diesel. Festive season, better EV technology, increasing range and new launches of companies – all these together gave a strong boost to the sales of electric cars. In October, EV sales registered a growth of 57% on an annual basis and 18% on a month-on-month basis.
Tata Motors
- Tata Motors once again maintained its dominance in EV sales in October. The company sold a total of 7,239 electric cars, which is 16% more than in September. Tata also registered a growth of 10% on annual basis. Cars like Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, Curvv EV and Harrier EV have kept Tata at the forefront of India’s EV market. Especially Tiago EV and Punch EV have strengthened the company’s hold in the budget segment, while Nexon EV remains the choice of premium customers.
JSW MG Motor
- JSW MG Motor stood second. The company sold 4549 EVs in October. This figure is 63% more than last year. MG Windsor EV remains the fastest selling electric car of the company. Apart from this, models like MG Comet EV, ZS EV, Cyberster and M9 are also being liked by the customers.
Mahindra

Kia and BYD
- Kia India sold 656 electric cars in October, registering a record growth of 1295% year-on-year. Carens Clavis EV proved to be the best selling car of the company. Whereas BYD sold 570 EVs and achieved annual growth of 43%. The demand for Atto 3 and Seal models is continuously increasing.
Position of Hyundai, BMW, VinFast and Mercedes
- Hyundai sold 444 electric cars in October and registered an astonishing growth of 1133%. BMW sold 310 premium electric cars, while VinFast sold 131 units with the help of VF6 and VF7.
