With the arrival of winter in Delhi, the havoc of pollution has increased further. The situation has become such that even going out has become a threat to health. Smoke rising from factories, heavy traffic, dust from construction works and stubble burning in neighboring states are making Delhi’s air so bad that experts are calling it a direct attack on the lungs. AQI 486 was recorded in New Delhi, which falls in the dangerous category.
AQI in ‘Severe’ category in 7 areas of Delhi
The Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached dangerous levels in many parts of Delhi. At 7 places the air has been recorded so bad that it can directly affect people’s health. Bawana is 420 AQI, Wazirpur: 385 AQI, Alipore: 372 AQI, RK Puram: 334 AQI, Patparganj: 355 AQI, Burari: 348 AQI.
Experts say that this type of air weakens the lung capacity of those who breathe continuously. Children, elderly, pregnant women and asthma patients need to be especially careful.
When will Delhi get relief?
According to meteorologists, the situation is not going to change much for a few days. Relief will be available only when the temperature increases slightly and the wind speed increases. Due to wind, pollution rises up and toxic particles accumulated near the ground spread, due to which AQI improves.
Delhi temperature and air conditions
Today Saturday (November 15), the minimum temperature of Delhi is likely to be 12°C and the maximum temperature is likely to be 27.5°C. The weather will be mild during the day and pleasantly cold at night. The wind speed has been recorded at 6.1 km per hour, which is still too low for improvement.
At present, the biggest solution for the people of Delhi to avoid this blow of pollution is to remain alert. It may take some time for the air to clear.
