Here the blind women’s cricket teams of India and Pakistan shook hands warmly with each other after the match. This was the same scene, the lack of which was clearly visible in international cricket for some time.

In the match played in Katunayake, India defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets. Batting first, Pakistan scored 135 runs in 20 overs, which the Indian team chased in just 10.2 overs. Despite this, what was really in the news was the wonderful offer by both the teams when all the players were shaking hands with each other at the end of the match. They were praising each other and respecting the spirit of sportsmanship.
Shake hands despite increasing tension between India and Pakistan
In the last few months, players have avoided even shaking hands in regular cricket matches between India and Pakistan. From the Asia Cup to the Women’s T20 World Cup, bitterness was clearly visible between the teams of both the countries. The atmosphere had become even more heated after the Pahalgam attack. In such an environment, this step of blind women teams is being said to be very positive.
Indian captain T.C. Deepika said that Pakistan played well, while Pakistani captain Nimra Rafiq congratulated India on the victory. Both the teams praised each other a lot, although the players were not allowed to talk to the media.
Big opportunity for women blind cricket
This tournament organized in Sri Lanka is considered to be the world’s first blind women’s T20 tournament. According to Indian team manager Shikha Shetty, this opportunity can bring a big change in the lives of many blind girls. He said, “Many girls can move out of the villages and get new opportunities in both studies and sports.”

How is blind cricket played?
The ball in this game is made of white plastic. In which small ball bearings are filled so that players can get an idea of direction and speed from its sound. Each team consists of four totally blind players, three partially sighted players and four low vision players. Bowling is underarm and a partner runner also runs along with the completely blind batsman.
Apart from India, Pakistan, Australia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and America are also participating in this tournament. The final will be played in Colombo next Sunday.
