A new video of Sarabjit Kaur, a woman from Punjab who went to Pakistan on the occasion of Guru Parv from India, has surfaced, which has raised concerns in both the countries. In the video, Sarabjit Kaur is seen calling herself ‘Noor’ and claiming to have converted to Islam and married Pakistani citizen Nasir Hussain. In the clip, Sarabjeet says that she has known Nasir for the last nine years and is marrying him of her own free will. After the video surfaced, it has become clear that the woman has converted and got married in Pakistan.
52 year old Sarabjit Kaur is already divorced from her husband and has two sons. A day ago, her marriage certificate also went viral, in which it was revealed that her new name was registered as ‘Noor’. After this whole matter, the concern of Indian security agencies has increased because it is not only being considered as administrative negligence, but questions related to national security are also being raised.
India-Pakistan relations sour after ‘Operation Sindoor’
In view of the strain in India-Pakistan relations after ‘Operation Sindoor’, the Central Government had initially not allowed the Sikh group to go to Pakistan. But after pressure from religious organizations the yatra was allowed. Now when the news of Sarabjit Kaur marrying a Pakistani youth and staying in Pakistan has come to light, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) seems to be keeping distance from it.

What did the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee say?
The committee says that they only send the list of devotees to the government, it is the responsibility of the government and security agencies to check the background of the passengers. Whereas it is worth noting that the same group that went to Pakistan from Attari-Wagah border on November 4 was under the leadership of SGPC’s acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj.
SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh said this
SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh has called this matter very unfortunate. He claimed that Sarabjit Kaur’s name was not included in the official list received from the Central Government. The journey was approved on the basis of this government list.
He said that if Sarabjit Kaur was in online contact with any Pakistani youth or her intentions were suspicious then this information should have been received by the security agencies in advance. If the investigation had been strict, the woman could have been stopped even before crossing the border. Pratap Singh said that there is a need to make the screening of passengers more stringent, so that in future no person can go with the group and take such steps.
