Ways to Prevent Liver Cancer: Liver is the hardest working but most overlooked organ of our body. It works continuously to filter whatever we eat, drink or inhale. This organ keeps our energy, hormones and metabolism in balance. But when it comes to health, often the liver gets the last attention. Lung cancer cases are increasing rapidly across the world, while according to experts, three out of every five cases can be prevented. Its secret is not hidden in any big medicine, but in our small daily habits. Let us tell you which lifestyle you have to change.

walk more, sit less

The most effective and easiest way to keep the liver healthy is to remain active. Research shows that if you walk briskly for just one hour a week, the risk of liver cancer can reduce by about 50 percent. If your job is such that you have to sit for a long time, then try to take a walk for a few minutes every hour. Get up and walk around while talking on the phone, stretch between meetings, or take the stairs instead of the elevator. These small changes keep your liver as well as the entire body active and improve metabolism.

Keep an eye on your weight and eat right

Being overweight is not just a matter of appearance, it directly affects the health of the liver. The fat accumulated in the body gradually causes swelling and scarring in the liver, which can later turn into cancer. Research shows that for every 5 unit increase in BMI, the risk of liver cancer increases by about 39 percent. But the good thing is that if you lose even just 10 percent of your weight, conditions like fatty liver can be reversed. For this, include whole grains, pulses, fresh fruits and vegetables in the diet. It helps in repairing and strengthening the liver.

Stay away from alcohol and smoking

No amount of alcohol is considered safe for cancer prevention. If women drink more than one drink a day and men drink more than two, the risk of liver cancer increases by about 40 percent. Reducing or quitting alcohol completely gives the liver a chance to repair itself. The same thing applies to smoking also. Tobacco damages liver cells, but if you quit it, your risk may become almost normal after some time.

Protect the liver and prevent diseases

Chronic hepatitis B and C are among the main causes of liver cancer. Hepatitis B vaccine provides about 70 percent protection. Along with this, it is very important to have safe sex, use of disposable needles and getting antiviral treatment done at the right time. Also avoid poisonous fungi like aflatoxin, which forms in old grains or poorly stored dry fruits. Always buy goods from trusted brands.

Take care of sleep and lifestyle

Sleeping 7 to 8 hours every day gives your liver time to regenerate itself. Balanced diet, regular exercise, keeping an eye on blood sugar and cholesterol and getting health checkups done from time to time. All these things protect from diseases like fatty liver.
