The recent statement of Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has created a stir in Pakistan. He had said that Operation Sindoor was just a trailer. After this statement, Pakistan is again afraid of airstrike like action. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has claimed that India can attack across the border at any time and according to him, Pakistan cannot ignore this possibility.
What allegations did Khawaja Asif make?
In a TV program, Khawaja Asif said that the Indian Army Chief’s statement was not given just like that and Pakistan cannot take this warning lightly. Asif claimed that India can take cross-border action to put pressure on Pakistan and Pakistan should be prepared for it. He also said that India plays a role in infiltration from Afghanistan and many countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, China and Pakistan want to stop such infiltration. Attacking Afghanistan, Asif said that Kabul has become a base for terrorists.
Army Chief’s statement became the reason for Pakistan’s uneasiness
General Upendra Dwivedi had said on Monday, ‘Operation Sindoor was just a trailer and it ended in 88 hours. If Pakistan gives us a chance, we will teach it how responsible nations behave with their neighbours. This statement has become a cause of concern in Pakistan, which it is considering as a sign of possible military action.
India cannot be trusted: Asif
Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan can get trapped on two fronts – India and Afghanistan and in this situation India can try to attack from across the border while avoiding war. He said that Pakistan cannot trust India under any circumstances. Speaking on Middle East issues, he talked about Pakistan’s participation in international forces on Gaza and made it clear that Pakistan will not join the Abraham Accords.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM raised questions on his own government
On the other hand, voices have started being raised from inside Pakistan itself. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has alleged that ‘fake terrorist attacks’ are being carried out in the province, which benefits the central government. According to Tolo News, Afridi said that Islamabad deliberately hinders peace efforts in the Khyber region and uses terrorism for political gains.
Afridi alleged that some powerful groups present in the federal system of Pakistan want to maintain instability in the region. He claimed that the kidnapping of members of the Pashtun Tahafuz movement is also part of this mentality, so that the ongoing peace efforts with Afghanistan can be derailed.
Afridi said, this terrorism is fabricated. Decisions are not taken according to the will of the public, but according to the interests of some people. The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are fed up with these self-inflicted attacks. He clearly said that whoever disturbs the peace of the area is the common enemy of the people.
