First Gen Z Post Office: Taking a big step towards its modernization mission, the Indian Postal Department has started the country’s first Gen G themed revamped post office at IIT Delhi. According to the Ministry of Communications, its objective is to give a modern look to the post office according to the youth and students. While making changes in this post office, it has also been designed according to Gen G, in which along with Wi-Fi facility, the facility of parcel booking through QR code is also available. Apart from this, the new post office emphasizes on digital transactions, instant services and use of technology.
Designed in collaboration with students
The post office in the campus of IIT Delhi has been designed in a completely new style. It has been designed in collaboration with the students, which includes modern interior, Wi-Fi zone, graffiti and artwork prepared by the Fine Arts Society of IIT Delhi. In this Gen G post office, facilities like QR code, parcel booking, student friendly speed post discount and smart service touchpoints have also been provided.
Other 46 post offices of the country will also be revamped
The Indian Postal Department has taken the initiative to prepare the post offices established in the campuses of different universities in the country as per Gen G. Under this initiative, the first Gen G post office has been started in IIT Delhi. Under this initiative of the Indian Postal Department, Gen G Post Office, the post offices present in 46 educational campuses across the country will be converted into Gen G model by 15 December 2025. Its aim is to make post services accessible and technologically advanced for the youth. This Gen G Post Office will provide service to more than 10,000 students and staff members on the IIT campus.
Important participation of students in Genji Post Office
The special thing about Genji Post Office Project is that there is direct participation of students in it. Gen G Post Office has involved IIT Delhi students as brand ambassador design producers and social media partners. Along with this, student franchise model has been started for the first time in IIT Delhi, through which students will also be able to get direct experience of running a post office. The director, dean, faculty and students body of IIT Delhi were present in the inauguration ceremony of Gen G Post Office in IIT Delhi. Regarding this post office, the Ministry of Communications said that this initiative has been started keeping the youth in mind. So that the post offices of the country become more attractive, useful and modern. The ministry says that such a facility will soon be seen in other universities and institutions of the country also.
