Farmer brothers often think about how to earn more from the same land. The cost of farming is increasing, there is no assurance of what the weather will do when. In such a situation, if some way is found by which more income can be earned even from less land, then it is a big relief for every farmer. Today we are telling you one such method, in which you can grow flowers, vegetables and grains in the same field. This farming is also called multi cropping system and its special thing is that due to this the farmer keeps earning at different times throughout the year.
The biggest feature of multi cropping model is that in it the farmer is not dependent on any one crop. Grains are prepared late, but vegetables are sold quickly and the demand for flowers remains throughout the year. Due to this, the farmer keeps getting income from three different places.
Flower farming
Flowers can be easily cultivated on the ridges or empty banks of the field. Most of the farmers plant flowers like marigold, sunflower or chrysanthemum because they cost less and get good market prices. There is always a demand for flowers in wedding parties, festivals and everyday markets. Many farmers make a profit of Rs 30-40 thousand just because of flowers.
Daily earning by growing vegetables
Vegetables are that part of farming which gives the fastest money. If vegetables like loki, okra, tomato, brinjal, ridge gourd are planted in the field, then the farmer can pluck them every week and sell them in the market. Unlike grains, vegetables do not take months to prepare. Due to this, the income remains constant and the daily needs of the farmer are easily fulfilled.
Cereal
Grain crop is the main income of the farmer. Crops like paddy, wheat, jowar, millet are grown in large parts of the field. The benefit of grains is twofold. Firstly, the needs of the year are fulfilled, secondly, one gets secure income by selling in the market. Therefore, including grains along with other crops creates a stable basis for farming.
How to plant all three crops together?
- Plant flowers on the ridges, edges and empty spaces of the field
- Plant vegetables in the center space or between flower rows
- sow grain in the main part of the field
saving water and fertilizer
This method is also useful because it saves both water and fertilizer. Through drip irrigation or sprinkler system, the right amount of water reaches all the crops. Also, if one crop depletes the nutrients in the soil, the other crop makes up for it. Due to this the soil remains fertile for many years.
