Intelligence agencies have issued a major alert in Jammu and Kashmir, indicating that many groups of Pakistan will resume terrorist activities on a large scale before the full onset of winter. This alert has been issued after agencies have received intel that Delhi-style suicide bomb blasts can be carried out using moving vehicle IED to target common people and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to security officials, after the destruction of terrorist camps inside POK and Pakistan, contrary to expectations, after the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, the number of active terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir has increased and this number has increased to 131. In the changed situation, where among the terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir, there are 122 terrorists of Pakistani origin and only 9 are local terrorists, whereas the number of local terrorists in Kashmir Valley is three. Most of the local terrorists are active in the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal areas of Jammu.
Before Pahalgam attack, only 59 PAK terrorists were active.
According to the intelligence report, before the Pahalgam attack in April, only 59 Pakistani terrorists were active in Jammu and Kashmir till the end of March 2025. Of these, 21 each were from Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), 3 were from Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) and 14 were from other groups. It is a matter of concern that despite “zero” recruitment of local terrorists due to continuous security operations and “zero terror” policy, Pakistan Army supported groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and their proxy groups like TRF, PAFF have been successful in infiltrating fighters into Indian territory.
A senior security official, on condition of anonymity, said, “We have completely dismantled the terror OGW network in the Kashmir Valley and eliminated all the local terrorists, but now this void has been filled with new unknown recruits, who were not on our radar till now. Despite several coordinated raids and arrests, the large presence of foreign terrorists and their new system of OGWs still remains a matter of great concern for us.” Is.”
61 terrorists killed in 2024 and 60 in 2023
Data available with the security forces shows that 61 terrorists were killed in 2024 and 60 in 2023. While 45 terrorists were killed in encounters and operations inside J&K, 16 terrorists were killed during infiltration attempts on the Line of Control (LoC). Among the terrorists killed were 21 Pakistani citizens, during which 28 civilians and 16 security force personnel also lost their lives.
The pressure built by the security forces’ highly effective anti-terror operations and superior tactics had so far reduced local support and was seen as a major victory in the war against terror in J&K, but the busting of the “white collar” Jaish module and the Red Fort car bomb blast has changed the balance.
How big is the new white collar Jaish module?
After the new anti-terror operation after the Pahalgam attack, the security forces eliminated 12 top terrorists, which included 6 Pakistanis and 6 locals, but the new reality is that J&K is now facing a new group of terrorists who have mixed with the common people and can take deep roots in the system.
Delhi blast The crackdown on the new breed of terrorists spread across the four states of J&K, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh has yielded some gains, but the truth is that intelligence agencies and police forces are still unaware of how big this new “white collar” Jaish module actually is.
