Highlights of Day 1 (in brief)
South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bat first. Aiden Markram got a lease of life on 4 runs when KL Rahul dropped his catch. After this, he along with Ryan Rickelton made a partnership of 82 runs for the first wicket. Markram was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah in the first session, with this the session ended.
Kuldeep Yadav got Ryan Rickelton caught out in the very first over of the second session. Rickelton scored 35 runs. But after this Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs made a partnership of 84 runs for the third wicket, both of them did not lose the second wicket in the second session.
But the Indian bowlers made a comeback in the third session. Ravindra Jadeja took the first wicket of the third session in the form of Temba Bavuma, on which Yashasvi took a brilliant catch. Bavuma scored 41 runs. After this Kuldeep Yadav took a big wicket in the form of new Tristan Stubbs. Stubbs was out after scoring 49 runs, missing his half-century by 1 run.
