The inaugural ceremony of Khelo India University Games was held at SMS Stadium in Jaipur. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated the games by lighting the lamp. This is the fifth edition of Khelo India Games, which will be organized in Rajasthan.
More than 5,000 students coming from 232 universities across the country are participating in these games. Let us tell you that these games will run from 24 November to 5 December. The message of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also read at the inauguration ceremony. During the inauguration ceremony, CM Bhajanlal Sharma thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for handing over the hosting of these games to Rajasthan.
The culture of Rajasthan was showcased in the opening ceremony and many renowned artists of the country added charm to the ceremony with their exhibitions. The games will be organized in 7 cities, namely Jaipur, Bikaner, Kota, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Bharatpur.
23 sports will be played, more than 5 thousand athletes will participate, who will be competing for more than 400 gold medals. Let us tell you that this is the first time that Rajasthan is hosting the Khelo India University Games. Khelo India University Games was earlier hosted by Odisha, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and the fourth edition was jointly organized by the North-Eastern states.
Thousands of crowd were present in the ground at the time of the inauguration ceremony. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and CM Bhajanlal Sharma have congratulated all the players. Meanwhile, the players and others were welcomed by Rajasthan Sports Minister Colonel Rajvardhan Singh Rathore.
