IND vs SA ODI Series: The announcement of the Indian team for the South Africa ODI series has been made and the discussions going on for several days regarding the captaincy have also come to an end. After the injuries of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, the question was arising as to who would lead the team. Meanwhile, a strange claim gained momentum on social media that Rohit Sharma was offered captaincy again by the selectors, but he rejected the responsibility. However, the reality is completely different from this.
Rumors about captaincy, but the truth is something else
According to the news spread on social media, the selection committee had contacted Rohit Sharma and asked him to take over the captaincy in the South Africa ODI series, but Rohit refused. However, no such proposal was given to Rohit by the BCCI selectors. The committee of chief selector Ajit Agarkar was already clear that KL Rahul will take up the responsibility of ODI captaincy.
This claim going on on social media turned out to be just the imagination of some fan pages, which had no official basis.
Trust in KL Rahul
KL Rahul has clearly been chosen as the captain in the team announced on 23 November. His captaincy, wicketkeeping and stable role in the middle order gives balance to the team. Shubman Gill is out due to neck problem and Shreyas Iyer is out due to injury suffered during the Australia tour, but the selectors have no doubt about the captaincy.
The series matches will be like this
1st ODI: 30 November – Ranchi
2nd ODI: 3 December – Raipur
3rd ODI: 6 December – Visakhapatnam
