Usa news: Badar Khan Suri, an Indian student studying at the University of Georgetown, USA, has been arrested. He was a post doctorate fellow there and will now be deported from America.
According to Khan’s lawyer, he was arrested from his residence in Virginia on Monday night. According to the report of Politico, some masked agents arrived to arrest him. According to the arrest papers, these agents described themselves as an officer of the Homeland Security Department and informed Khan that the government had canceled his visa.
Suri’s lawyer said this
Suri’s lawyer Hasan Ahmed has argued in a petition filed for Khan’s release that the reason for his arrest is that his wife is an American citizen of Palestinian origin. The lawyer says that the government suspects that Suri and his wife are opposed to the stance adopted towards Israel under the US foreign policy, due to which they have been targeted.
Suri has been accused of promoting Palestinian organization Hamas, which the US has declared a terrorist organization. Apart from this, he is also accused of having close relations with a known or suspected terrorist.
Homeland Security Department said this in a statement
Assistant Secretary, Homeland Security Department, Trichia McLoglin wrote on the social media platform X, “Suri was a student at the University of Georgetown and was promoting Hamas there. He was active in promoting anti-Jewish sentiments on social media.”
Suri was a Foreign Exchange Student at Georgetown University actively Spreading Hamas Propaganda and Promoting Antisemitism on Social Media.

He wrote, ‘Suri has a close relationship with a known or suspected terrorist, who is a senior advisor of Hamas. The Foreign Minister issued an order on 15 March 2025, stating that Suri’s activities and his presence in the US make him worth exile under Section 237 (A) (4) (C) (I) of INA.
