Ahmedabad, India has got the hosting of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. India was confirmed to host in the meeting of 74 Commonwealth members held in Glasgow. An attractive vision was presented by India for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, for which Ahmedabad’s name was put forward. With this, we are going to score a century in ‘Commonwealth Games’ in Ahmedabad.

The official statement issued by Commonwealth Sports said that as soon as Ahmedabad got the title of hosting the 2030 Games, 20 Garba dancers and 30 drummers came to the Assembly Hall and started dancing and singing. This cultural display surprised the representatives of other countries present there.

India last hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2010. Indian athletes had given a historic performance by winning 101 medals in that edition. The Commonwealth Games were first organized in 1930, which was hosted by Canada. Now Ahmedabad, India is going to host the 100th Commonwealth Games.

PT Usha, President of the Commonwealth Games Association of India, expressed her joy at this historic moment, saying, “The Commonwealth is deeply honored by the confidence shown by sport. The 2030 Games will not only celebrate 100 years of the Commonwealth movement, but will also lay the foundation for the next century. It will bring together athletes, communities and cultures in the spirit of friendship and progress.”

India participated in the Commonwealth Games for the first time in 1934. Indian athletes have so far won a total of 564 medals in these games. These include 202 gold, 190 silver and 171 bronze medals. India’s best performance came in 2010, when it won a total of 101 medals while hosting. The 2022 Commonwealth Games was hosted by Birmingham, England, in which India won 61 medals. Let us tell you that the 2026 Commonwealth Games are going to be held in Glasgow, Scotland.
