Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (November 1) expressed deep concern over the health of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and said that India is ready to provide her all possible assistance. This comment of PM Modi comes after the alleged statement of Khaleda Zia’s party leaders, in which it has been said that she is very unwell and the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh has been put on ventilation.
PM Modi posted on Twitter, “I am deeply concerned to know about the health of Begum Khaleda Zia, who has contributed to the public life of Bangladesh for many years. We wish her a speedy recovery. India is ready to provide all possible assistance.”
What did BNP tell?
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia, 80, was admitted to a private hospital on November 23 after she developed a chest infection that affected both her heart and lungs. Four days later, Khaleda Zia was shifted to the coronary care unit due to multiple health complications.
A local news portal quoted BNP vice-president Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan as saying that Jiah’s condition has deteriorated and she has been put on ventilation. “His condition is very serious. Nothing can be done except prayers from the entire country,” he told the media outside Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
‘Jiya’s condition critical’
According to news agency PTI, BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also confirmed that Zia’s condition remains critical and her treatment is ongoing. Local and international medical experts are taking care of his health. TBSnews.net quoted Alamgir as saying, “He is very unwell. The whole country is wishing for his recovery. Local and foreign experts are engaged in his treatment. They are trying their best.”
