The hassle of frequent charging is over! With these easy tips the battery of EV scooter will last for many years, know how to increase the range

The demand for electric scooters is increasing rapidly in India. Earlier some startup companies were dominant in this market, but now almost all the big two wheeler companies have also entered this segment. People are slowly getting ready to buy electric scooters, but despite this, some buyers are still worried about the battery and range. This concern is absolutely right, because the range and battery life of an electric scooter directly depends on the health of its battery.

lithium ion batteries

  • The most important part of an electric vehicle is its battery. Just like petrol engine vehicles can be repaired again and again, similarly repairing EV batteries is not easy. Lithium-ion batteries weaken over time, and if not taken care of, they can quickly fail. Since the most expensive part of an EV is its battery, it is very important to keep it in good condition for a long time. The good thing is that by adopting some easy tips the battery can be kept healthy and safe for a long time.

Proper charging increases battery life

  • Charging the battery of an electric scooter up to 100% should always be avoided. Like a mobile phone, it is not good to keep the EV battery always fully charged. Battery manufacturing companies recommend maintaining the charging level between 20% to 80%. This puts less pressure on the battery and increases its lifespan. The battery can be fully charged when needed, but doing so daily weakens the battery cells quickly. Similarly, one should avoid charging the battery completely after draining it, because this increases the risk of battery damage.

Temperature has a big impact on the battery

  • If a lithium-ion battery is kept in a very hot or very cold place, its health starts deteriorating rapidly. If you live in a place where it is very hot, then always try to park the scooter in the shade. Also avoid charging it in direct sunlight. Also, if you have ridden the scooter for a long distance and the battery has become hot, let it cool down and only then charge it. Charging a hot battery immediately is harmful for it.

Use fast charging less

  • Fast charging is useful when needed, but using it daily harms the battery. Fast chargers heat the battery very fast, due to which the health of the battery deteriorates quickly. Therefore, try to charge the battery with a normal charger most of the time.

Always use the original charger

  • The charger that the company provides with the EV scooter is the safest for the battery. If the charger gets damaged, replace it only with the company’s original charger. Cheap aftermarket chargers are easily available, but they can damage the battery. Wrong charger can overheat the battery and reduce its life.
