After the New Education Policy 2020, the method of teaching in schools is continuously being changed. Now the emphasis is not just on memorization, but on understanding how much the child is actually able to understand a subject. For this purpose, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is going to start SAFAL Assessment across the country. This is a kind of test in which it will be assessed how much the children’s ability to understand has increased, how they think and their ability to solve a situation. This examination is not designed to burden children, but to improve their learning process.

CBSE has announced that this examination for the academic session 2025-26 will start from December 8. It will be completely in pen-paper mode and will be organized in all the schools of the country. This time students from class 6 to 9 will appear in the examination. The board has sent guidelines for this to the schools and has also made a link available, through which schools will be able to download the OMR sheet a day before the examination.

What is the purpose of successful evaluation?

The objectives of successful assessment are to reduce the habit of rote memorization, to check the actual understanding and concepts of children, to identify their thinking power, to test how much they are able to apply the topics taught in the class.

Education has to be made more useful and effective. CBSE has clearly said that this is not a competitive examination. The marks of the students will not be sent anywhere but the schools themselves will analyze the results so that they can know in which areas the children have good understanding and where improvement is needed.

Complete exam schedule

According to this complete schedule of the examination, the examinations of class 9 students will start from December 8, in which science examination will be held on the first day, language examination on the second day and mathematics examination on the third day. Similarly, children of class 6 will give their examinations from December 11, where first the environmental science test, then language test on December 15 and mathematics test will be taken on December 16. In these examinations, it will only be seen whether the students are able to understand the questions and answer them or are just writing memorized answers.

The event will be held in two languages

According to CBSE, the examination will be conducted in both Hindi and English medium. OMR sheets for the examination will also be made available to the schools, which will be printed and distributed among the students on the day of the examination.
