Every year 1 lakh children pass, NIOS becomes support for students; Know how the board is

NIOS i.e. National Institute of Open Schooling is a big support for lakhs of children who are unable to go to regular school due to some reason, and this is the reason why every year more than 1 lakh students pass 10th from this board.

The most special thing about NIOS is its flexibility. Students study as per their convenience, books are available at home and examinations are conducted twice a year. Not only this, if needed, the option of taking the exam on-demand i.e. anytime is also given, hence it is considered one of the most convenient boards in the country.

NIOS experience is considered very good for the students because there is no pressure of any kind, neither compulsion to go to school nor the burden of heavy fees. This is the reason why players, artists, children from rural areas, working youth and students who are unable to attend regular school due to health reasons choose NIOS in large numbers.

The certificate from NIOS is fully valid and considered at par with other boards. It is accepted everywhere in jobs, college admissions, private jobs, hence millions of children consider it a safe and reliable option. Talking about the exam pattern, minimum 33% marks in both theory and practical are required. Question papers are in simple language and are considered easy to read and understand.

What do the figures say?

Every year NIOS 10th exam result is discussed a lot because it is largely related to the future of the children. The average pass percentage ranges between 55% to 65%, that is, about 6 out of every 10 students are successful. The result of April session of 2025 is an example in which out of 1,02,495 students, 56,350 students passed and the pass percentage was approximately 62.72%.

Apart from this, the pass percentage in the October examination of 2023 was recorded at around 54.91%. These figures show that NIOS results remain almost stable from year to year and there are no major fluctuations, which makes it easier for children and parents to estimate their preparation.

Another interesting pattern is seen in NIOS results: girls consistently perform better than boys. In the data of 2025, the pass percentage of girls was 63.32%, while that of boys was 62.31%. This difference may seem small, but it proves that girls take NIOS studies more seriously and their performance remains stable. Many times it has also been seen that even though the attendance of girls is less, their pass percentage is always high.
