The Bihar government on Monday (08 December) made a major administrative reshuffle and transferred many Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. DMs have been changed in many districts. At the same time, according to the notifications issued by the General Administration Department, K. Senthil Kumar has been relieved from the Planning and Development Department and given the additional charge of the Scheduled Caste-Tribe Welfare Department. Pankaj Kumar Pal will continue in his post in the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), and he has been given additional charge of the Road Construction Department.
Abhay Kumar Singh has been appointed Secretary of the Information Technology Department. He has also been given the responsibility of the post of Managing Director of Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation (Beltron) and Patna Metro Rail Corporation. This appointment is considered important in giving impetus to digital governance, e-office system and smart city projects.
What responsibility did IAS officer Divesh Sehra get?
Divesh Sehra has been made Secretary of Mines and Geology Department. Along with this, he has also been given the charge of Bihar State Mineral Corporation and Mineral Development Corporation. He will also hold the additional responsibility of the post of Secretary in the Rural Affairs Department. Sandeep Kumar R. Pudkalkutty has been appointed Secretary, Urban Development and Housing Department and has been given additional charge of Patna Metro Rail Corporation.
DM of many districts also transferred
In this sequence of reshuffle, District Magistrates (DM) of many districts have also been transferred. Aurangabad DM Shrikant Shastri has been sent to Begusarai. Madhepura DM Taranjot Singh will now be the District Magistrate of West Champaran, which being a border district, is considered extremely sensitive administratively. Sheohar DM Vivek Ranjan has been made the new District Magistrate of Siwan.
Arwal, Katihar and Shivhar DM also transferred
Arwal DM Abhilasha Sharma has been sent to Aurangabad. Ashutosh Dwivedi, Joint Secretary in the Building Construction Department, will now be the District Magistrate of Katihar. Pratibha Rani has been appointed as the new District Magistrate of Shivhar. Director of Information and Public Relations Department, Vaibhav Srivastava has been given the command of Saran district. Mines Director Vinod Duhan has been sent to Araria as District Magistrate. Fisheries Director Abhishek Ranjan will be the new DM of Madhepura.
New DM in Sheikhpura, Arwal and Buxar also
Industry Department Director Shekhar Anand has been made the District Magistrate of Sheikhpura. Amrisha Bains, Officer on Special Duty, Energy Department, will now be the new District Magistrate of Arwal. Director of Primary Education Sahila has been appointed District Magistrate of Buxar, while Director of Agriculture Department Nitin Kumar Singh will now be the District Magistrate of Kaimur. These widespread transfers of officers are being seen as an effort to increase the efficiency of governance and speed up the performance of various departments.
