Update on Shreyas Iyer’s injury

According to India Today report, Iyer’s next ultrasound scan is to be done this week. This will be an important test that will determine the next phase of his recovery. The scan will be reviewed by top specialist Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, who is supervising the case. Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala also looked after Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and many other star cricketers during their injuries. If medical clearance is given, Iyer will immediately go to the BCCI Center of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru to begin structured rehabilitation.

Shreyas Iyer can currently only do normal daily activities and basic isometric exercises. Iyer is prohibited from doing any activity that increases pressure inside the stomach. Only after the next round of scans will he be allowed to resume cricket-related skills like batting, fielding and strength work. Initial estimates said that Iyer would recover in 2 months, but considering the seriousness of the injury, it is necessary to be cautious.
