Clashes continue with firing on the border between Thailand and Cambodia. Along with firing, the armies of both the countries are carrying out drone attacks on each other. Due to the firing, lakhs of people living in the border areas are forced to flee. Meanwhile, a video has surfaced in which Thai soldiers shot down a drone coming from Cambodia with their traditional guns. This drone was equipped with a bomb or a grenade and was to enter the border of Thailand and be fired on the soldiers.
There is also news that Thailand has captured a disputed village in Cambodia. Thai Army soldiers and armored vehicles are visible in this abandoned village. Cambodia alleges that Thailand has also caused damage by firing at the customs office on the border. The armies of both the countries are accusing each other of provocative actions. Thailand’s army alleges that the latest dispute started after firing by the Cambodian army. Two Thai soldiers were injured in Cambodia’s firing. According to reports, so far more than half a dozen people from both sides have been killed, including soldiers.
Accused of breaking the ceasefire agreement
Thailand and Cambodia are accusing each other of breaking the ceasefire agreement brokered by US President Donald Trump in the month of October. On Monday (8 December 2025), Thailand carried out an airstrike on Cambodia’s casino with an F-16 fighter plane. Cambodian soldiers were using this casino as their hideout. Due to the ongoing conflict for the last 3-4 days, lakhs of people are migrating from the border areas of both the countries. Tension has been going on between Thailand and Cambodia since the month of July. During that time too, both the countries had carried out air strikes on each other, in which about 50 people lost their lives and lakhs of people had to evacuate the border area.
Root of ancient Hindu temple dispute
An ancient Hindu temple is at the root of the border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia, due to which these two countries belonging to ASEAN organization remain thirsty for each other’s blood. Actually, there is a big temple on the border of Thailand and Cambodia, which is known as Preah-Vihar and is included in the UNESCO heritage list. This temple of Lord Shiva was built by the kings of the Khmer Empire of Cambodia between 9-12 century. Due to the presence of a disputed temple on the border, soldiers of Thailand and Cambodia clash here during patrolling, due to which military confrontation occurs from time to time. There has been a dispute between the two countries regarding this temple for the last 100 years.
