As soon as the list of 350 players was released for the IPL 2026 auction. Among them, Nikhil Chaudhary was included in the list of local players i.e. Indian uncapped players. There was a lot of uproar on social media regarding this and various types of claims came forward.
Doubts arose especially in the minds of Indian cricket fans, because BCCI does not allow Indian players to play in foreign leagues. Then how was Nikhil Chaudhary playing in the Big Bash League? Let us tell you that Nikhil has played for Hobart Hurricanes in BBL and is seen playing regularly in Australian domestic cricket.
BCCI corrected its mistake
Amidst this uproar, BCCI has rectified its mistake and included Nikhil Chaudhary in the list of foreign players. Nikhil’s name will now be mentioned in the list of uncapped foreign players, whose base price will be Rs 40 lakh. There is also news that BCCI can make changes in the auction list by 14th December, whereas the auction will be held on 16th December.
How many players, how many slots?
A total of 1390 players had registered for the auction, out of which only 350 players have been shortlisted, who will be bid in the auction. Out of these 350 players, only a maximum of 77 players will be able to be sold, because after the retention list of all the players comes, only 77 slots are left vacant in all the teams.
