Request to give two weeks
Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa had said on Wednesday that the state has requested the Election Commission to give two more weeks to complete the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. In a press release, Rinwa said this extension was sought so that district election officials can re-verify the names of dead voters, voters who have shifted to other places and missing voters.
Rinwa said that digitization work has been completed in 14 districts, 132 assembly constituencies and 1,43,509 polling stations. He said that voters whose names are not in the voter list of 2025 should be assisted in filling Form-6, while the youth who will turn 18 on January 1, 2026 should also be encouraged to register. The CEO urged all recognized political parties to cooperate in the verification of entries of dead, migrant, absentee and duplicate voters. Booth level officers will provide the list of verified voters to the booth level agents by December 12, so that they can upload it on the CEO and district websites. The process of SIR is going on across the state from November 4.
