The Election Commission on Thursday (December 11) has extended the deadline for SIR in six states and union territories including UP. Now Samajwadi Party President and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav has reacted regarding this. He said that this is the victory of our just demand. The work of BLO and PDA guards was highly appreciated.

Akhilesh Yadav wrote on social media platform In these two weeks, all PDA watchmen should work with double the speed and do not let even a single valid vote be deducted.

How long did the SIR process extend in UP?

This step of extending the deadline for special intensive revision of the voter list has been taken by the Election Commission on the request of the concerned Chief Electoral Officers. The SIR period for Uttar Pradesh has been extended till 26 December and the draft voter list will be published on 31 December.

In which states has the SIR deadline been extended?

Apart from Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission has issued a revised schedule for SIR in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The period of counting forms for these 6 states and Union Territory was to end on Thursday (December 11) and the draft of the voter list was to be published on December 16, but now the extension of the deadline has brought relief to those who were left out in the process.
