Becoming a government teacher is still the dream of millions of youth. Most people believe that to become a teacher in a government school, only B.Ed is necessary. But now it is not so. With the changing times, many such courses have been included in the Education Department, with the help of which you can acquire the ability to become a teacher in government schools even without doing B.Ed. That means, if for some reason you are not able to do B.Ed, you still have many new options to become a teacher. With the help of these courses, you can become fully qualified to teach in primary and upper primary classes.

First of all, let’s talk about D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education), which is also known as BTC or JBT in many states. This is a two-year diploma course which is specially designed for 12th pass students. This course makes you eligible for primary i.e. class 1 to 5 and in many states also for class 6 to 8. This course includes many important topics related to children’s psychology, method of teaching, class management and school activities. At present, D.El.Ed is the first choice of those youth who want to get a job quickly, because this course is shorter and simpler than B.Ed.

B.El.Ed

After this comes B.El.Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education). This is a four-year course which can be done only after 12th. The biggest feature of this course is that both graduation and teacher training are completed simultaneously. This means that within four years you will have a degree and also the qualification to become a teacher. After this course, the candidate is eligible to teach primary and upper primary classes i.e. classes 1 to 8. B.El.Ed is considered to be the best option especially for those students who aim to become a teacher from the very beginning and want their foundation to become strong during their studies.

ITEP

Another new option has come in the education world whose name is ITEP (Integrated Teacher Education Programme). This is an integrated teacher education program, which has been introduced under the National Education Policy 2020. ITEP can be started only after 12th and it is a total course of 4 years. The special thing about this course is that in this both graduation and B.Ed are completed together. That means there is no need to do B.Ed separately. This course is special for those youth who want to move towards becoming teachers after completing their school studies.

M.Ed

M.Ed (Master of Education) is also an important option for students who want to teach in higher classes, which is done after B.Ed. This course further strengthens your qualifications and enhances your ability to teach classes 9 to 12.
