Prithvi Shaw has been bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2026 auction. KKR bought Prithvi for Rs 5.25 crore. Actually, former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin conducted a mock auction, in which Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants also bid for Prithvi Shaw. Let us tell you that from 2018-2024, Prithvi played for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. Whereas last year he did not find any buyer in the mega auction.

Although the IPL 2026 auction will be held on December 16, but before that Ravichandran Ashwin organized his own separate mock auction. In the auction list of 2026 season, Prithvi Shaw’s name will be mentioned first in the set and he has kept his base price at Rs 75 lakh.

In the mock auction organized by Ravichandran Ashwin, Royal Challengers Bangalore first showed interest in Prithvi Shaw, who got competition from Delhi Capitals. RCB backed out after going to Rs 2 crore, but after that Lucknow Super Giants bid and Delhi also pulled out after going to Rs 4 crore.

LSG wanted to include Prithvi Shaw in their squad, but after 5 crores he also did not bid. Finally, KKR included Prithvi Shaw in their squad by bidding Rs 5.25 crore. Let us tell you once again that this was not a real auction, this mock auction was organized by Ravichandran Ashwin.

Prithvi Shaw remained unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, this time it will be interesting to see whether any team bids on him or not. So far, he has scored 1892 runs in his 79-match IPL career, which also includes 14 half-centuries. He was getting a salary of Rs 7.50 crore from Delhi Capitals till the 2022-2024 season.
