Recovery will be made from ineligible people
Ladki Bahin Yojana was brought by the Maharashtra Government to provide benefits to needy women. But many people have taken benefit from the scheme through fraudulent means. Data presented in the Assembly revealed that 1526 government employees had also benefited from it.

At the same time, 14298 men were also identified who took money from the scheme despite not being eligible. Now the departments have been instructed to withdraw the amount from all of them as per the rules. The investigation also showed that in many families, more than one person was taking benefits of the scheme or was also taking money from other schemes. For this reason, payment on such accounts was stopped from June.

Investigation of 26 lakh suspicious accounts
About 26.3 lakh accounts have come under suspicion under the scheme. In many places men had also applied. Whereas this scheme is for married, widow, divorced, abandoned and economically weak women aged between 21 to 65 years. It is also necessary for the annual family income to be less than Rs 2.5 lakh. The rules also say that help from other schemes can be availed only if the total monthly benefit does not exceed Rs 1500.
