The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made a big change regarding the Class 10 board examination to be held in the year 2026. The board has issued new guidelines in this regard to all the affiliated schools, which are especially related to the examination of science and social science subjects. The purpose of these changes is said to be to make the examination process more systematic and to prevent mistakes in the evaluation of answer sheets.

According to CBSE, the Class 10 Science question paper will now be divided into three clear sections. It will have separate sections for Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Similarly, the question paper of Social Science will be in four parts, in which History, Geography, Political Science and Economics will be kept in separate sections. The board has made it clear that this new pattern will be implemented from the board exam of 2026.

What will need to be done?

The board has also given strict instructions to the students regarding writing answers. Students will have to divide their answer sheet into three parts for Science and four parts for Social Science. Answers to each section will have to be written in the space designated for that section. CBSE has said that if a student writes the answers of one section in another section or mixes the answers of different sections, then such answers will not be evaluated and no marks will be given for the same.

The CBSE circular also states that such mistakes will not be accepted even during verification or revaluation after the declaration of exam results. That is, if the answer is written in the wrong section, there will be no chance to correct it later. The board believes that this will bring discipline among the students and the examination process will be easier and cleaner.

The board gave strict instructions

The board has instructed schools to familiarize students with this new examination pattern in advance. Schools have been asked to make students practice writing section-wise answers during their studies, so that they do not face any problem during board exams. Along with this, CBSE has advised the students to check the latest sample question papers available on the academic website.

CBSE has also said that the sample papers will help students understand the format of the question paper, number of sections, types of questions and marks distribution. By looking at the marking scheme released with the sample paper, it also becomes clear how full marks can be obtained by writing the answers. The board has appealed to the students to rely only on the official website of CBSE for correct information.
