Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith, lodged in Pakistan’s Adiala jail, has written a letter to Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform X. Jemima has alleged that the X platform is deliberately reducing the reach of her posts related to the arrest of Imran Khan and his treatment in jail. He said that Elon Musk had promised freedom of expression.
Addressing Elon Musk, Goldsmith said that after being removed from power in Pakistan in 2022, Imran Khan has been kept as a political prisoner in a brutal solitary confinement for the last 22 months. During this time, his and Imran Khan’s two sons have not been able to meet their father, have not been able to talk to him for the last several months and are not even being allowed to send letters.
Imran Khan’s name removed from TV-radio: Jemima
Goldsmith also claimed that Imran Khan’s name has been almost completely removed from Pakistan’s TV and radio, leaving social media platform X as the only independent platform where this alleged grave injustice can be fully exposed.
Jemima alleged that now the social media platform X itself is limiting her reach. Citing the results of X’s AI tool Grok, he said that secret throttling is being done on his account, due to which posts related to Imran Khan’s jail condition and his sons’ meeting with him are being hidden through the algorithm.
Jemima reminded Musk of his promise
Jemima told Musk, ‘You had promised freedom of expression, not such expression that no one can hear.’ He appealed to Elon Musk to intervene in this matter and restore access to his account.
