Lakhs of users across the country faced problems due to a sudden glitch in the networks of many telecom companies in the early hours of Sunday. Users of Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and BSNL complained about slow internet, call drops and network not available. According to network tracking website Down Detector, this problem was worst from 3 am to 6 am.
Complaints increased on down detector
According to the Down Detector website, a sharp increase in network related complaints was seen for three hours on Sunday morning. During this period the internet speed remained very slow and many users could not even make calls.
Vodafone-Idea users are facing the most problems
According to Down Detector data, Vodafone-Idea users filed the highest number of complaints. The details of complaints in the last 24 hours were as follows-
- 50% users did not get network
- 37% have mobile internet problem
- 13% faced complete blackout
Maximum complaints came from Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Panaji, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai and New Delhi.
Internet and fiber services affected in Jio network
Jio users also complained about problems in mobile internet and JioFiber services.
According to Down Detector:
- 57% complaints were related to mobile internet
- 30% regarding JioFiber services
- 13% users complained about not getting network
Airtel and BSNL were also affected
A large number of users faced problems in Airtel network also.
Among the complaints related to Airtel:
- 53% mobile internet
- 26% network not found
- 22% landlines remained connected to the internet
Among the complaints of BSNL users:
- 62% did not get network
- 30% mobile internet
- 8% had problems related to mobile phones
Network services are normal at present
Till the time of writing the news, the networks of all the telecom companies were working normally. No statement has come from the companies regarding the official reason for this outage. However, many users on social media expressed their displeasure over the network down.
This is not the first time such an outage happened
It is worth noting that even before this, the networks of different telecom companies across the country have been affected simultaneously. Users have also been expressing their displeasure on social media regarding such recurring technical problems.
