Assam Suspends Four Cricketers In Match Fixing: Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has suspended Aman Tripathi, Amit Sinha, Ishan Ahmed and Abhishek Thakuri for their involvement in match fixing during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. These four cricketers have represented Assam in different stages of the tournament and now an FIR has been registered against them in the crime branch of the state police in match fixing case. In which he has been accused of trying to influence and instigate some players from Assam during the tournament, who took part in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025.
Secretary of Assam Cricket Association gave statement
ACA secretary Sanatan Das said, ‘After the allegations came to light, the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) conducted an investigation and after that, the Assam Cricket Association has also initiated criminal action. Prima facie, there are indications of their involvement in serious misconduct, which affects the integrity of the game.
All the matches of Assam for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 were played from 26 November to 8 December in Lucknow and currently the Assam team failed to enter the Super League stage. Das further said, ‘All four players have been suspended to prevent any possibility of the situation worsening further. The suspension will continue until the final result of the investigation comes or any other decision is taken by the Assam Cricket Association.
What happens during the suspension period?
During the suspension period imposed by the Assam Cricket Association, the four players will not be able to participate in any state-level tournament or match organized by the district units or affiliated clubs. During the suspension, it is prohibited to participate in any cricket related activity as a match referee, coach, umpire etc. Das said that all district associations have been instructed to strictly follow the order and inform the ACA’s decision to the clubs and academies under their jurisdiction.
