Thirteen people died after seven buses and three vehicles collided with each other on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura early Tuesday morning after several vehicles caught fire. Police officials gave this information. Officials said that 35 other people were also injured in this accident. They said that this accident happened around 4.30 am in the morning in Baldev police station area on Yamuna Expressway when at least seven buses and three small vehicles collided with each other in dense fog. Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said, “Vehicles going from Agra to Noida collided with each other. Gone.”
He told that this accident probably happened due to low visibility due to fog. Kumar said that after receiving the information, police and administration teams reached the spot and admitted all the injured to the hospital. Baldev police station in-charge Ranjana Sachan said, “The number of dead has increased to 13, out of which only two have been identified so far. They have been identified as Akhilendra Pratap Yadav (44), resident of Prayagraj, and Rampal (75), resident of Maharajganj district. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. He said that all these people died due to burn injuries after the vehicles caught fire.
Sachan said that out of the injured, 15 have been admitted to the district hospital, nine to the Community Health Center of Baldev, nine to a private hospital and two to SN Medical College, Agra. He said that the passengers were taken to their destination by government vehicles. Senior Superintendent of Police said that due to the accident, a temporary diversion has also been done.
Fire engines were sent to the spot
Mathura police said in a statement on ‘X’, “Today at around 4.30 pm, seven buses and three vehicles met with an accident due to low visibility due to dense fog on Yamuna Expressway at Milestone 127 from Agra to Noida.” Police said, “The injured persons were admitted to the hospital for first aid. No one among the injured is seriously injured. The best treatment is being provided, other passengers are being sent to the destination in government vehicles.” According to eyewitnesses, the collision was so strong that the crashed buses caught fire, to control which fire engines were sent to the spot.
Expressing grief over the deaths in the accident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted on ‘X’ and said, “The loss of lives in a road accident on Yamuna Expressway in Mathura district is extremely sad and heart-wrenching.” My condolences are with the bereaved families. He said, “Instructions have been given to the district administration officials for proper treatment of the injured. It is a prayer to Lord Shri Ram to give place to the departed souls at His feet and provide speedy recovery to the injured. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that the Chief Minister has also directed to provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand each to the injured.
CMO posted on ‘X’ and said, “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the road accident in Mathura district and has expressed deep condolence over the loss of life.” Expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased and directed the officers to provide all possible assistance to the injured by ensuring immediate, proper and free treatment.
