Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving a speech in the Parliament of Ethiopia on 17 December 2025. This is the 18th Parliament of the world, where PM Modi is giving a speech. PM Modi expressed his gratitude to everyone for the highest honour. He said, ‘This honor is not mine, but of the whole of India.’
PM Modi also condemned the Pahalgam attack in the Ethiopian Parliament.
Ethiopia is the ‘Land of Lions’
PM Modi called Ethiopia the ‘Land of Lions’ and said that his home state Gujarat is also the home of lions, so he feels like home here. On behalf of the 140 crore people of India, he extended best wishes for friendship, goodwill and brotherhood. Describing this great building as a temple of democracy, he said that here the will of the people becomes the policy of the state.
PM Modi said on the friendship between India and Ethiopia, ‘Our cultural heritage is similar. It is a matter of pride for me to come to the temple of democracy. I have brought the message of 140 crore people.
Mother’s point in the anthem of Vande Mataram and Ethiopia
PM Modi said, ‘India’s national anthem Vande Mataram and Ethiopia’s anthem both talk about mother. Whether we live in Addis Ababa or Ayodhya, our civilizations have a common root beyond politics and borders, which builds bridges between civilizations and is taking our relations into a new era.
PM Modi thanked for receiving the highest honor
On being awarded Ethiopia’s highest honor ‘Mark of Ethiopia’, he thanked and accepted it on behalf of the people of India. PM Modi said, ‘Ethiopia stands tall today because its roots are deep and it accepts the future with an open heart. India is also an ancient civilization which is moving towards the future with the mantra of Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas-Sabka Prayas.
PM Modi received ‘The Great Honor Mark of Ethiopia’
Ethiopia gave its highest honor to PM Modi on Tuesday. He has become the first global leader to receive ‘The Great Honor Mark of Ethiopia’. On this occasion, he had said that this honor is a matter of pride for me. Earlier, PM Modi was formally welcomed by PM Abiy Ahmed Ali at Ethiopia’s National Palace, where both the leaders held a bilateral meeting.
