Women cricketers won silver, there was a bumper increase in fees for domestic matches, know everything

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has more than doubled the match fees of women cricketers and match officials in a move towards equal pay structure in domestic cricket. This step has been taken after India’s first ODI World Cup victory. This salary increase has been approved by the Apex Council of the Board. According to the revised structure, senior women cricketers playing in domestic tournaments will now get between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 per day, which is much higher than the current Rs 20,000 (Rs 10,000 for reserve players) per match day.

Players included in the playing XI in senior women’s domestic one-day tournaments and multi-day competitions will get Rs 50,000 per day, while reserve players will get half of this amount i.e. Rs 25,000 per day. Players included in the playing eleven in national T20 tournaments will get Rs 25,000 per match, while reserve players will get Rs 12,500.

According to BCCI officials, if a female cricketer plays in all formats during the entire season, she can earn Rs 12 lakh to Rs 14 lakh. The apex council has also increased the remuneration of junior women cricketers. Players in the Under-23 and Under-19 categories (included in the XI) will be paid Rs 25,000 per day, while reserve players will get Rs 12,500.

Match officials including umpires and match referees will also benefit from such increase. The proposed income for umpires and match referees for league matches of domestic tournaments will be Rs 40,000 per day. The daily salary for knockout matches will be between Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000. This will depend on the importance of the match and operational requirements. Under this increase, those umpiring in Ranji Trophy league matches will now get around Rs 1.60 lakh per match, while in knockout matches, they will get between Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh per match.

BCCI believes that the revised pay structure will provide greater financial security and motivation to women cricketers and domestic match officials. This increase will strengthen the overall domestic ecosystem.
