Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan broke their silence after the controversy. Once Saif had clearly said about this during an interview that Taimur is an old Persian word which means strong like iron. In such a situation, when I asked Kareena whether I can keep this name, she also agreed with it.
Kareena had given a similar clarification on this name in 2023 and had said that one of Saif’s childhood friends also had the same name and it means strong like iron. Let us tell you that in Indonesia, Taimur means rising sun and in Bosnian and Türkiye it is called Iso Domir (made of iron).

After the birth of Taimur in December 2016, the couple kept this name, which started a controversy. Many people linked it to Mongol ruler Taimur Lang, who had attacked India and carried out violence, sparking anger on social media. Poet Kumar Vishwas had expressed strong objection to this name. During a program, Kumar Vishwas talked about Saif and Kareena’s decision to name their son Taimur. He said that celebrities should be careful about the names of their children.
He said that instead of naming it after a historical invader, he could have chosen from many other options. The poet further strongly condemned Saif and Kareena Kapoor’s decision to name their son Taimur. He further said, ‘The ill-mannered man, the lame man who came to India and raped the mothers and sisters here, all you got was to name this lovely child and now if you make him a hero, then you will not even allow him to become a villain, remember this. This India is awakened, this is the new India.
