A big and important decision regarding Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) has been taken in the first meeting chaired by the newly appointed Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, Dr. Prashant Kumar. It was told in the meeting that before determining the examination dates, the examination calendar of other commissions and recruitment institutions will be studied in depth. Only after this a new timetable will be decided, so that the examinations do not clash with each other and they can be conducted in a transparent and smooth manner. It is clear from this decision that the TET exam to be held on 29 and 30 January 2026 will also be postponed.

15 lakh candidates will be affected due to postponement of UP Tet

Due to the postponement of TET exam, about 15 lakh competitive candidates of the state will be affected. The Commission says that this decision has been taken with the aim of avoiding haste and maintaining complete purity in the examination process. It was also decided in the meeting that an internal vigilance system would be established to bring transparency in the functioning of the Commission. Under this, a Vigilance Officer will also be appointed in the Commission soon, so that the work related to examination and recruitment can be effectively monitored.

Detailed calendar will be released soon

The Commission has assured that a detailed examination calendar will be released soon to conduct the recruitment examinations in a timely, fair and transparent manner. In this regard, Commission’s Deputy Secretary and Public Relations Officer Sanjay Kumar Singh has issued a press release giving information about the decisions taken in the meeting.

What is UP TET exam?

Let us tell you that UP TET i.e. Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test is a mandatory examination to become a teacher in schools (classes 1 to 8) of Uttar Pradesh, which is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB); It consists of two papers (for primary and upper primary level) and it tests the teaching aptitude of the candidates, after passing which you can apply for teacher recruitment.
