Royal Challengers Bangalore has bought left arm spinner Satwik Deswal in the IPL 2026 auction for his base price of Rs 30 lakh. According to media reports, recently the Puducherry Native Cricket Players Association has written a letter to the Anti-Corruption Unit of BCCI, accusing Satwik of falsifying documents.
According to the report, it has been alleged in the letter that Satwik Deswal has falsified his documents to play for Puducherry cricket team. Although it is not written in the report that this is the same cricketer who has been bought by RCB, but RCB has bought Satwik Deswal of Puducherry for Rs 30 lakh, who has previously worked with the team as a net bowler.
Accusations of falsifying documents against the player!
According to the report, the complaint email read, “It has been more than a month since we made a formal complaint to BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit about Satwik Deswal’s use of forged documents to qualify and play for the Puducherry team. Despite bringing this to your attention, we see that several players are allegedly using similar methods to participate in matches for Puducherry. This has further affected the integrity of the eligibility verification process and now “Serious questions arise about the effectiveness of the corrective action taken up to now, if any action has been taken at all.”
According to the report, the email further read, “We request the BCCI ACU to immediately review the complaint and inform us about the action taken on this matter. We believe that it is the responsibility of the ACU to acknowledge the complaints received and inform about the outcome or progress of the investigation.’ We will wait for your reply by the end of this week. In the absence of any response or clarification from BCCE ACU, we will be forced to pursue this issue for public information through appropriate media channels.”
What is the allegation against Satvik Deswal?
Satwik is an 18 year old left arm spinner bowler. According to the report, it has been said in the complaint that he does not fulfill the eligibility criteria of being a bonafide resident of Puducherry for at least one year. It was also alleged that Satwik had played in the Haryana Cricket Association League till August 10, 2025.
‘The allegations are false’
In the report, quoting former president of Cricket Association Puducherry, P Damodaran, these allegations were rejected. According to the report of News 24, while talking to ‘RaveSports’ he said, “This is a completely false story, we will sue them (Puducherry Native Cricket Players Association) for Rs 50 crore. Our lawyers are preparing a case against them.”
