China has announced a ban on a total of 20 companies, including big American defense companies. China’s Foreign Ministry said on Friday (26 December 2025) that action has been taken against 10 individuals and 20 American defense companies for selling arms to Taiwan. The St. Louis branch of Boeing is also included in these banned companies.
Entry ban of company and its officials in China
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that after this action, all the assets of American companies and their people in China will be frozen. China’s domestic institutions and individuals have also been prevented from doing any kind of business with these companies. The banned companies include the founder of defense-related Anduril Industries and nine senior officials of the banned companies. He has been banned from entering China.
Apart from this, companies like Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation and L3 Harris Maritime Services have also come under the purview of this action. Last week, America had announced the sale of arms worth $11.1 billion to Taiwan, after which China took this action.
‘China will respond to any provocative action’
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the Taiwan issue is part of China’s core interests. This is a red line in China-US relations that cannot be crossed. Beijing has said that it will give a strong response to any provocative action regarding Taiwan. China has urged America not to give arms to Taiwan.
Earlier this month, Donald Trump signed a bill that will strengthen Taiwan’s relations with America. This is the ‘Taiwan Assurance Implementation Act’, which obliges the US State Department to review the guidelines for US engagement with Taiwan. This review will take place every five years. Taiwan has appreciated it, while China has expressed strong objection, calling it unacceptable interference.
