India has defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the third T20 match. In this match played in Thiruvananthapuram, Indian bowlers allowed Sri Lanka to score only 112 runs. In reply, Team India achieved the target in the 14th over and took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the 5-match series. Shefali Verma made a big contribution to India’s victory by playing a stormy inning of 79 runs in 42 balls.
In this match, the Indian team won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sri Lankan batsmen once again could not stand the lethal bowling of Team India. Sri Lanka had lost 4 wickets on the score of just 45. Thanks to the 40-run partnership of Imesha Dulani (27 runs) and Kavisha Dilhari (20 runs), the Sri Lankan team somehow came close to 100 runs. Sri Lanka could score only 112 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, Smriti Mandhana was out after scoring only one run, while Jemimah Rodrigues also could not extend her innings by scoring 9 runs. Shefali Verma had created havoc at the other end. Within no time, Shefali Verma completed her half-century in 24 balls. This was the third fastest half-century for India in the history of women’s T20 cricket.
Shefali Verma scored 79 runs in 42 balls. He also hit 11 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. Verma ensured Team India’s victory by adding 48 runs with captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Captain Harmanpreet returned unbeaten after scoring 18 runs.
India leads 3-0 in the series
The series of five T20 matches will continue till December 30. So far, the Indian team has won all three matches. India won the first T20 match by 8 wickets. After that, in the second T20 match, Team India won by 7 wickets and now the third match also by 8 wickets.
