Politics on SIR

The opposition claims that because of SIR, marginalized communities were deprived of their rights. The ruling party says that improvement in the voter list is necessary. The opposition had raised this issue strongly during Bihar elections. Especially, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi took out Voter Adhikar Yatra. Rahul Gandhi brought the opposition parties of Bihar on one platform on this issue. But when the election results came, this issue did not prove beneficial for the opposition. Akhilesh Yadav remains vocal against SIR in UP. After SIR, NDA got a landslide victory in the assembly elections held in Bihar.
