After Unnao rape case accused and former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar got bail from Delhi High Court, the case is continuously making headlines. Bhojpuri folk singer Neha Singh Rathore has given a sharp reaction on this decision and has raised questions on the policies and slogans of the government. Commenting on this, he has taken a dig at the government regarding Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
Neha Singh Rathore’s reaction
Neha Singh Rathore took a direct dig at the government by calling this bail as the reality of the new India. He said that anything is possible in today’s India, where on one hand social workers can be in jail and on the other hand, people guilty of heinous crimes like rape can come out. Describing the government’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao slogan as contradictory, he said that there is a huge difference between the strict language of the Prime Minister and the ground reality. According to Neha, giving parole or bail to such criminals is not only wrong but it also raises questions on the justice system. Calling it condemnable, he appealed to the daughters of the country to stand unitedly with the victim.
What did Neha Singh Rathore say on Christmas protest?
Commenting on the Christmas protest, Neha Singh Rathore called it a move to weaken the country. He says that opposition to any festival or religious event promotes religious fanaticism. In his statement to ANI, he raised the question that what kind of nationalism is being created by intimidating minorities in their own country. According to Neha, this is not patriotism but an attempt to weaken democracy and social unity.
International image and fundamental rights
Neha Singh Rathore termed such videos going viral on social media as harmful for India’s international image. He said that in countries like Europe and Australia where Indian minorities live, all these create negative perception towards India. This may also increase the pressure on the governments there to make policies against India. Neha said that celebrating Eid, Diwali, Christmas or any religious festival is the fundamental right of every citizen. Visiting church, temple, mosque or any religious place is a right granted by the Constitution and violation of these rights is a serious threat to democracy.
