Coal India Subsidiaries Listing: A major step has been taken by the Central Government towards improving transparency and functioning in government companies. According to news agency PTI, the Prime Minister’s Office has asked the Coal Ministry to start the process of listing all the subsidiary companies of Coal India Limited in the stock market by the year 2030.
The aim of this initiative is to increase the accountability of companies and make their operations cleaner. Coal India Limited holds more than 80 percent of the country’s domestic coal production.
Plan to list all subsidiaries by 2030
According to information received from sources, Coal India Limited has been asked to list all its subsidiary companies in the stock market by the year 2030. This step has been taken to improve governance, increase transparency and create value through asset monetization.
Company’s condition in stock market
Coal India Limited entered the stock market in November 2010. At that time, the company’s IPO worth Rs 15,199.44 crore had come, which had received a tremendous response from investors. The IPO was subscribed 15.28 times.
At present, Coal India shares are trading at around Rs 401.85 on BSE. The market cap of the company is more than Rs 2.47 lakh crore.
8 subsidiary companies of Coal India
Coal India Limited operates its business through eight subsidiaries. These include Eastern Coalfields Limited, Bharat Coking Coal Limited, Central Coalfields Limited, Western Coalfields Limited, South Eastern Coalfields Limited, Northern Coalfields Limited, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited and Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited.
