Punjab News: A big news is coming out from Ludhiana district of Punjab, which has created a stir among the people. During a city kirtan in Halwara, Ludhiana, Aam Aadmi Party leader and village sarpanch Sukhwinder Singh Halwara was brutally attacked by about a dozen people. The attackers removed his turban. The Sarpanch suffered serious injuries in the attack and was admitted to the hospital for first aid. After receiving first aid, he reached the police station with a turban in his hand.
7,800 rupees and seal also looted
The attackers also looted the Sarpanch’s seal and cash worth Rs 7,800 from his pocket. Based on the sarpanch’s complaint, an FIR was registered against 17 attackers, five of whom are named, while the rest are unidentified. The Sarpanch alleges that some people attacked him out of enmity because he had stopped some people from spreading false rumors on social media.

Sarpanch Sukhwinder Singh Halwara told in his statement to the police that during the Nagar Kirtan, he had stopped abuses and spreading false rumors on social media. This instigated the attackers and their associates to attack them. The attackers used punches and heavy iron rods.
Based on the complaint of the Sarpanch, the police have registered a case against more than 17 unidentified assailants including Rajveer Singh alias Sunny, Rajvinder Singh alias Gagana (both brothers), Vishal, Jassa and Happy. Sarpanch Sukhwinder Singh Halwara has alleged that people supported by a senior Congress party leader were involved in this attack.
Raids to arrest the accused
Station incharge Gurdeep Singh said that based on the complaint of the sarpanch, a case has been registered against five named and more than 12 unidentified accused. Continuous raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
