Government is running a scheme for free electricity

The government had fixed a budget of more than Rs 75 thousand crore for this scheme and a target has been set to provide solar to one crore houses by 2026-27. Under this scheme, if a solar system of right capacity is installed in the house, then about 300 units of free electricity can be available every month. At the same time, excess electricity generated can be sent to the grid, due to which the consumer can also get extra benefit. This not only reduces the electricity bill, but also provides relief from rising electricity rates in the future.
How much subsidy will be given under the scheme?
The government gives direct subsidy on installation of solar panels. This subsidy has been decided on the basis of the capacity of the system. Assistance up to Rs 30 thousand is available on 1 kilowatt system. Whereas, subsidy up to Rs. 60 thousand is given on 2 kilowatt system. Apart from this, a maximum assistance of Rs 78,000 is provided by the government on systems more than 3 kilowatts. Only those people who are citizens of India and who have a house and valid electricity connection can take advantage of this scheme. Apart from this, the condition is that the applicant should not have availed the benefit of any other solar subsidy earlier. The roof of the house should be suitable for installing solar panels.
How can one apply to avail the benefits of the scheme?
