Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced a 15-member team for the 2026 T20 World Cup to be played in India. The 2026 T20 World Cup will be played in India and Sri Lanka. Actually, Pakistan team will play its matches in Sri Lanka. Afghanistan has chosen charismatic leg spinner Rashid Khan as the captain for the T20 World Cup. Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Naseeb Khan said, “The performance of the Afghanistan team in the last edition of the T20 World Cup was very good. We cherish the past wonderful memories and hope for even better results this year, which will be played in Asian conditions. Hosting the West Indies team will give us a great opportunity to improve the balance in our team and prepare properly for the World Cup.”
Left-handed middle order batsman Shahidullah Kamal and wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Ishaq have managed to retain their places in the Afghanistan team. Young fast bowler Abdullah Ahmadzai has also made it to the World Cup team. Fazalhaq Farooqui, who was out of the Bangladesh series and played his last T20 match against Zimbabwe, is also in the team. Mystery spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman has also been included in the team.
