The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully launched two Pralay missiles from the same launcher off the coast of Odisha on Wednesday (December 31, 2025) at around 10:30 am. The Defense Ministry has issued a statement and given information in this regard. The ministry has also shared the picture of the missile launch.
At the same time, regarding the Pralay missile test, the Defense Ministry said that this flight test was conducted as a part of user evaluation tests. The Defense Ministry said that both the missiles followed the prescribed trajectory and met all flight objectives. This was confirmed through tracking sensors deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR) located in Chandipur. At the same time, telemetry systems installed on ships deployed near the target area have also confirmed the terminal incidents.
Can accurately attack the enemy up to 150-500 km range
Pralay is an indigenously developed solid propellant based semi-ballistic tactical missile using state-of-the-art guidance and navigation systems to ensure high accuracy. This missile is also capable of carrying different types of warheads to hit multiple targets, with a range of 150 to 500 kilometers. It will be used to destroy enemy border command and control centres, radar systems, cantonments and airfields.

However, due to the ‘no first use’ policy, the test of Pralay missile is very important. Because this missile helps in filling the gap of conventional and ballistic missiles.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, Indian Air Force, Indian Army, DPSUs and the industry associated with the launch on the successful launch of Pralay missiles. He said that the successful completion of salvo launch of Pralay missile proves the reliability of the missile.

At the same time, Secretary, Department of Defense Research and Development and Chairman, DRDO, Dr. Sameer V. Kamat has also congratulated the DRDO teams involved in the successful flight tests of Pralay missiles. He said that this achievement shows readiness for induction of users of this system soon.
