The news of the explosion in Switzerland on New Year has shaken the whole world. A police spokesperson said, ‘It is believed that most of the dead are tourists who had come to Crans-Montana during the holiday season. There were more than a hundred people in the bar at the time of the blast. We are investigating now. It is an internationally famous ski resort where a lot of tourists come. The police have denied the possibility of any kind of terrorist attack. Swiss President Guy Parmelin said, ‘The government is shocked by these incidents. Difficult to identify dead bodies
As soon as information about the fire was received, 10 helicopters, 40 ambulances and 150 rescue personnel were sent to the spot. Police said that work is currently underway to identify the victims and inform their families, but it will take time. In neighboring Italy, the major burn unit of Niguarda Hospital in Milan has been made available for the treatment of the injured. Italy’s ambassador to Switzerland said it could take weeks to identify many of the bodies because their bodies were completely burnt. The area around the bar has been completely closed to the general public and a no-fly zone has been imposed over Crans-Montana.
Swiss broadcaster RTS said the blast occurred in the basement of the bar, which has a total capacity of about 400 people. Videos widely shared on social media platforms showed a thick plume of smoke rising from the bar immediately after the incident, showing the scale of the blast and subsequent fire.
