‘Muslims… then there will be riots in the country within a minute’, this is what Sajid Rashidi said on the protest of Bangladeshi player

The controversy regarding Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman, who was bought in the auction by Shahrukh Khan’s team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is deepening. On one hand, some Hindu leaders and storytellers are targeting actor Shahrukh Khan, while on the other hand, the statement of All India Imam Association President Maulana Sajid Rashidi has made this debate more intense. Expressing objection to the protest, Sajid Rashidi even said that ‘if Muslims do not tolerate it, there can be riots in the country in a minute.’

Accusation of linking protest to religion
Maulana Sajid Rashidi said that Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman and Shahrukh Khan, who bought him, are both Muslims, hence this decision is being opposed. He alleged that this protest is the result of hatred against Muslims and Islamophobia.

‘Protest becomes easier as soon as Muslim name comes in’
Rashidi said, ‘It has become a habit in the country to protest without thinking and without knowledge of the Constitution. Where Muslim name appears, opposition becomes very easy. Shahrukh Khan is a Muslim, the player is a Muslim – so there is bound to be protest. The hatred against Muslims comes to the fore.

Sharp attack on Hinduist leaders and storytellers
The head of the Imam organization made a direct attack on the protesting leaders and storytellers and said that the same people who give statements against Muslims are today questioning the decision of Shahrukh Khan’s team. He said that such people spread hatred in the name of religion.

‘Team Shahrukh Khan is there, who are you?’- Rashidi
Sajid Rashidi raised the question, ‘This cricket team belongs to Shahrukh Khan. Who should he feed and whom should he not feed – what does it matter to you? If anything happens against the Constitution then the government will see. Who are you, what is your status who are protesting?

‘Muslims are tolerating it, otherwise…’
He sarcastically said that those who are themselves involved in beef export are today teaching the lessons of dignity and religion to others. Rashidi said that Muslims should not learn anything from such religious leaders. Rashidi further said, ‘These are the same people who want to break the country by spreading hatred and want to create a civil war. If Muslims do not tolerate this then there can be riots in the country within a minute. It is the wisdom of the Muslims that they are exercising patience.
