Amidst the increasing demand for jobs in the country, a big news has come out from the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. A student of Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Institute has got an annual package of Rs 2.5 crore from a Netherlands company in this year’s placement. This is said to be the biggest placement offer ever in the history of Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. According to the information received from IIT Hyderabad, final year student Edward Nathan Varghese has been offered a job as a software engineer by global trading firm Optiver. Edward will start working full time in the company’s Netherlands office from the month of July.
Got record package at just 21 years of age
Edward of Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad has received such a big offer from a Netherlands company at the age of just 21. Let us tell you that Edward Nathan Varghese got this offer after a two-month summer internship, which he converted into a pre-placement offer. This internship included a two-week training period and a six-week project. Two students were selected for internship at Optiver, but only Edward got the PPO. While talking to the media, Edward told that Optiver was the first and only company for which he gave an interview. When his mentor told him that the company was going to offer him a job, he was very happy. His parents are also very happy with this achievement. Born and brought up in Hyderabad, Edward studied from class 7th to 12th in Bengaluru.
Gain from competitive programming
Edward told that he has been active in competitive programming since the first year of engineering and was included in the top 100 of the country. This helped him a lot in cracking the interview. He also said that the name of IIT and the strong curriculum of the institute plays an important role in attracting companies to the campus even in the current sluggish job market. Let us tell you that Edward’s parents are also engineers by profession.
Another student got a package of Rs 1.1 crore
Apart from Edward, another computer science student from Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad has also got a package of Rs 1.1 crore. Earlier, the biggest package in the institute was around Rs 1 crore, which was recorded in the year 2017. This year, there has also been a big increase in the average package of IIT Hyderabad. Compared to 2024, the average package has increased by about 75 percent from Rs 20.8 lakh to Rs 36.2 lakh. In the first phase of placements, which ended in December, students received a total of 24 international offers.
Condition of post graduate and graduate students
At present, out of 650 post graduate students, 196 have got placement, whose average package is Rs 22 lakh. At the same time, out of 487 graduate students registered for placement, 62 percent have received job offers so far.
